{"id":1056240,"date":"2020-04-09T16:47:47","date_gmt":"2020-04-09T20:47:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bocskairadio.org\/?p=1056240"},"modified":"2020-04-09T16:47:47","modified_gmt":"2020-04-09T20:47:47","slug":"hungarys-pro-family-policy-is-working-births-up-9-4-per-cent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bocskairadio.org\/en\/hungarys-pro-family-policy-is-working-births-up-9-4-per-cent\/","title":{"rendered":"Hungary\u2019s Pro-Family Policy Is Working, Births Up 9.4 Per Cent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The pro-family policies pursued by Hungarian prime minister Viktor\u00a0Orb\u00e1n\u2019s government as an alternative to mass immigration are reaping dividends, with births up 9.4 per cent year on year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Hungary, the population has been decreasing since 1981,\u201d said Katalin Nov\u00e1k, Hungary\u2019s State Secretary for Family, Youth, and International Affairs, in exclusive comments to Breitbart London explaining the enormity of the turnaround her government has achieved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2010, when [Orb\u00e1n\u2019s Fidesz party] won the elections with a two-thirds majority after eight years of socialist, anti-work, anti-economy, and anti-family governance, our country was at the brink of collapse,\u201d she recalled, citing \u201causterity packages and the dismantling of the family benefit system\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2010, we started to build a family-friendly country\u2026 Our main goal is to eliminate the burdens that couples face when they would like to have children,\u201d she said, highlighting policies including \u201clifelong exemption from personal income tax for women with four children\u201d, partial mortgage write-offs for families after the birth of their second child, and grandparental leave.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe recent demographic figures speak for themselves, the number of marriages is at its 40-year high, the fertility rate at its 20-year high, while the divorces haven\u2019t been as low as last year in the last six decades,\u201d she added proudly.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Ready for some good news? Hungarian family politics is showing results! in January 2020 9.4 % more births than last year, almost 100% more marriages, and children per woman from 1.4 to 1.6!<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ezhbs0W2GI\">https:\/\/t.co\/Ezhbs0W2GI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Eduard Habsburg (@EduardHabsburg) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EduardHabsburg\/status\/1246022453844938752?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 3, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The State Secretary, herself a mother of three, was forthright when pressed to comment on the past remarks of outlets such as the left-liberal <em>Economist<\/em> magazine, which <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/europe\/2019\/02\/16\/viktor-orbans-plans-to-boost-hungarys-birth-rate-are-unlikely-to-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\">rubbished<\/a> the Hungarian government\u2019s aspirations to arrest its demographic decline through so-called natalist policies rather than mass immigration, as Western European countries such as Britain, Germany, and Sweden have attempted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Hungarian point of view is that we have to rely on our internal resources, namely supporting families and enabling young couples to have children.
