In his speech, the prime minister added that it had taken \u201cyears to clear up the havoc the left-wing government left behind, but we have succeeded in putting Hungary back on its feet\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a ceremony held at the intersection of Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street and Andr\u00e1ssy Street, the prime minister said: \u201cFifteen years ago, at this very time, here on the corner of Andrassy and Bajcsy-Zsilinszky streets, the past and the present confronted one another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn one side were tear gas grenades, rubber bullets, plain-clothed unidentified police and water cannons,\u201d Orb\u00e1n said. \u201cOn the other side stood a cheated and humiliated nation which \u2026 was yet again forced to listen to the fact that they had been lied to morning and night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn one side was a power that had cheated with hundreds of tricks \u2026 and on the other were desperate people lined up behind the giant letters of Freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_178224\" class=\"wp-caption\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hungarytoday.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/D_KOS20211023121-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-178224\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-178224\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Participants at Viktor Orb\u00e1n\u2019s October 23 speech. (Photo: Szil\u00e1rd Kosztics\u00e1k\/MTI)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Orb\u00e1n: \u2018We have put Hungary back on its feet\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cMercifully, in the meantime, national unity has endured and workers, engineers, farmers, small and medium-sized firms, scientists, teachers, nurses and doctors have cleared the ruins,\u201d Orb\u00e1n said in his speech.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have created a million new jobs, got rid of foreign currency loans, cut taxes, and next year the minimum wage will be higher than the average wage during the time of the [former governing] Socialists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The national wealth, he added, had grown one and a half times since Fidesz\u2019s time in power. \u201cWe taxed multinationals, protected families, and now utility bills are the lowest in Europe,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister said Hungary was now giving both the elderly and young people their due, with the phasing in of the 13-month pension and the tax break for young workers being introduced next year. Further, families raising children are getting this year\u2019s taxes returned to them, he noted.<\/p>\n<h3>Orb\u00e1n: \u2018We\u2019re saluting the day we showed the world who we really are\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThere are moments in the life of nations when everybody suddenly feels that enough is enough; things can\u2019t go on the way they have done,\u201d Orb\u00e1n said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to decide, and that decision will show who we really are. It will transpire for a whole nation what that nation is worth. Whether a nation remains silent or goes out to protest, whether it reconciles itself with the situation or rises up against it, whether it looks to one side or stands up straight, or whether it retreats or takes up the fight,\u201d Orb\u00e1n said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_178233\" class=\"wp-caption\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hungarytoday.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/DBZOL20211023130-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-178233\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-178233\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Viktor Orb\u00e1n speaks at Erzs\u00e9bet Square on the 65th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian revolution. (Photo: Zolt\u00e1n Balogh\/MTI)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Referring to 1956, Orb\u00e1n said: \u201cWe Hungarians took the right decision: we protested; we stood up straight and rose up and fought [against Soviet rule]\u201d. That meant taking a stand for freedom against captivity, independence against occupation, and Hungarian patriots standing against Communists, Orb\u00e1n said.<\/p>\n<h3>Orb\u00e1n: \u2018We\u2019re stopping overbearing LGBTQ propaganda at the school gate\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re stopping overbearing LGBTQ propaganda at the school gate\u201d the prime minister continued. Orb\u00e1n said it was high time for Brussels to understand that in the end \u201cnot even the communists got far with us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re the sand in the machinery, the spanner in the works \u2026\u201d \u201cWe\u2019re David who Goliath is best off steering clear of,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re the ones who in \u201956 poked global communism in the eye and the ones who knocked the first brick out of the Berlin Wall,\u201d Orb\u00e1n added.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister said Hungarians were still confronting those who insisted that Hungarians had been wrong, only to be proven right in the end. He said Hungarians would be proven right \u201ca third time\u201d following their stance on the issues of public utility bills and migration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be a referendum and we will protect our children,\u201d Orb\u00e1n declared. \u201cHungary will be the first country in Europe to stop overbearing LGBTQ propaganda at the school gate.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Orb\u00e1n: \u2018However they disguise themselves, they\u2019re still the left wing\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Prime Minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n said: \u201cThe left wing, however they disguises themselves, are still the same left wing\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Quoting from the Gospel of Matthew, Orb\u00e1n said: \u201cBeware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep\u2019s clothing \u2026 by their fruit ye shall know them. The good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the bad tree bringeth forth evil fruit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the left wing \u201cstarts off by telling lies, carries on with violence and then leaves everyone bankrupt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Orb\u00e1n insisted that Hungary\u2019s left wing was backed by international forces so massive that \u201conly millions of Hungarians joining together can defeat it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe real challenge, and even a threat, is the international forces \u2014 the money, media and the network behind them,\u201d Orb\u00e1n added.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister urged the crowd to count on each other. \u201cThis is our strength \u2026 no amount of dollars or euros in the world can take this away from us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister concluded: \u201cWe have come, we have seen and we will win again. The Lord looks upon us and Hungary above all! Go Hungary!
