In only its third international game ever, Team Hungary<\/strong> pulled off the upset of the year by beating a Polish<\/strong> squad which had pushed two of Europe\u2019s<\/strong> best \u2013 Sweden<\/strong> and Denmark<\/strong> \u2013 to the limits in the last month. The game, played in Szekesfehrvar, Hungary,\u00a0<\/strong>at the first American<\/strong> football specific stadium in the country, attracted a crowd\u00a0of 2,600 delighted Hungarian<\/strong> fans.<\/p>\n

For much of the game, Poland<\/strong> held the advantage due to its experience. Team Poland<\/strong> has played six games over the last 12 months while this was the third game ever for the Hungarian<\/strong>national team.<\/p>\n

But Team Hungary<\/strong> finally made their intentions known when it counted late in the contest.<\/p>\n

Poland<\/strong> scored in the first half on a touchdowns by\u00a0Jacek Wroblewski<\/strong> and Karol<\/strong>\u00a0Zak.<\/strong>\u00a0Adam Nelipa<\/strong> kicked a field goal as well. Hungary\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0Ferenc Baksa\u00a0<\/strong>added a 51-yard field goal for the host team.<\/p>\n

Down 16-3 early in the fourth quarter, Hungarian<\/strong> receiver\u00a0M\u00e1rton<\/strong>\u00a0Czir\u00f3k<\/strong> and quarterback\u00a0M\u00e1rk\u00a0Bencsics<\/strong> began to connect. Bencsics<\/strong> found\u00a0Czir\u00f3k<\/strong> two times giving Hungary<\/strong>a 17-16 lead midway through the period.<\/p>\n

This time Bencsics<\/strong> threw a 31 yard touchdown strike to Balazs Szabolcska,<\/strong> with little time remaining, shocking Poland and giving Hungary<\/strong> its first ever international victory.<\/p>\n
