Budapest, January 13 (MTI) \u2013 Opposition\u00a0Jobbik welcomes the recent inauguration of 500 border guards but repeatedly calls for reinstating a separate border guard force, the party\u2019s spokesman said on Friday.<\/p>\n

Hungary is the only EU country without a force like that, Adam Mirkoczki told a press conference, noting that Hungary\u2019s Border Guard had been eliminated in 2008.<\/p>\n

The Border Guard should consist of at least 8,000 members and patrol Hungary\u2019s EU Schengen border sections, he said.<\/p>\n

The first \u201cborder hunting\u201d officers took their oath on Thursday at a ceremony addressed by Prime Minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

In response, ruling Fidesz said that Jobbik only \u201cpreaches\u201d border protection while it prevented \u201ctogether with the Socialists and [Democratic Coalition leader Ferenc] Gyurcs\u00e1ny\u201d the passage of a constitutional amendment aimed at banning the forced settlement of migrants in Hungary.<\/p>\n
