The Memory Project\u00a0commemorates\u00a0the spirit of 1956\u00a0through\u00a0100\u00a0video\u00a0interviews with\u00a0Hungarian-Americans who were witnesses and participants in the 1956\u00a0events.<\/p>\n<p>In her remarks after dinner, Mrs. Lauer Rice presented\u00a0the major achievements of the Coalition\u00a0in 2016,\u00a0highlighting\u00a0the organization\u2019s 25th\u00a0anniversary and the commemorations of the 60th\u00a0anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956\u00a0last year\u00a0which involved\u00a0Hungarian-American communities\u00a0across the United States. She emphasized the importance\u00a0of\u00a0the Coalition\u2019s\u00a0ongoing\u00a0educational\u00a0programs, with a special focus on its flagship project, the Coalition Internship Program,\u00a0and\u00a0mentioned some of\u00a0the\u00a0remarkable\u00a0alumni. After\u00a0her welcoming remarks\u00a0Mrs. Lauer Rice\u00a0together with\u00a0Max Teleki\u00a0and \u00c1gnes Virga announced a surprise award ceremony\u00a0on behalf of the Board of Directors and members\u00a0of the Coalition,\u00a0they\u00a0expressed\u00a0their\u00a0gratitude to\u00a0outgoing Ambassador\u00a0Dr. R\u00e9ka Szemerk\u00e9nyi for her dedicated and inspired service, representing the best interests of Hungary as Ambassador to the United States in 2015-2017, and for her genuine interest and warm friendship for the Hungarian diaspora in the United States.  In accepting the award,\u00a0Ambassador\u00a0Dr. R\u00e9ka Szemerk\u00e9nyi\u00a0thanked the Coalition for its friendship and said. &quot;One of the\u00a0greatest\u00a0assets we have in Hungarian-American relations is this fantastic Hungarian-American community across\u00a0the United States;\u00a0I very much appreciate your friendship, your openness in\u00a0receiving\u00a0me and I really hope that this strong friendship that we have built will continue.&quot;  Next,\u00a0Mrs. Lauer Rice reported on the latest developments of\u00a0the Memory Project initiative,\u00a0launched\u00a0in 2016\u00a0by Mrs. Lauer Rice and\u00a0R\u00e9ka Pigniczky,\u00a0Coalition\u00a0member and documentary filmmaker,\u00a0and showed\u00a0a\u00a0compilation video entitled &#039;What are your first memories of emigration?&#039;. The Memory Project\u00a0commemorates\u00a0the spirit of 1956\u00a0through\u00a0100\u00a0video\u00a0interviews with\u00a0Hungarian-Americans who were witnesses and participants in the 1956\u00a0events.  In her remarks after dinner, Mrs. Lauer Rice presented\u00a0the major achievements of the Coalition\u00a0in 2016,\u00a0highlighting\u00a0the organization\u2019s 25th\u00a0anniversary and the commemorations of the 60th\u00a0anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956\u00a0last year\u00a0which involved\u00a0Hungarian-American communities\u00a0across the United States. After\u00a0her welcoming remarks\u00a0Mrs. Lauer Rice\u00a0together with\u00a0Max Teleki\u00a0and \u00c1gnes Virga announced a surprise award ceremony\u00a0on behalf of the Board of Directors and members\u00a0of the Coalition,\u00a0they\u00a0expressed\u00a0their\u00a0gratitude to\u00a0outgoing Ambassador\u00a0Dr. R\u00e9ka Szemerk\u00e9nyi for her dedicated and inspired service, representing the best interests of Hungary as Ambassador to the United States in 2015-2017, and for her genuine interest and warm friendship for the Hungarian diaspora in the United States.  In accepting the award,\u00a0Ambassador\u00a0Dr. R\u00e9ka Szemerk\u00e9nyi\u00a0thanked the Coalition for its friendship and said. \"One of the\u00a0greatest\u00a0assets we have in Hungarian-American relations is this fantastic Hungarian-American community across\u00a0the United States;\u00a0I very much appreciate your friendship, your openness in\u00a0receiving\u00a0me and I really hope that this strong friendship that we have built will continue.\"  Next,\u00a0Mrs. Lauer Rice reported on the latest developments of\u00a0the Memory Project initiative,\u00a0launched\u00a0in 2016\u00a0by Mrs. Lauer Rice and\u00a0R\u00e9ka Pigniczky,\u00a0Coalition\u00a0member and documentary filmmaker,\u00a0and showed\u00a0a\u00a0compilation video entitled 'What are your first memories of emigration?'. The Memory Project\u00a0commemorates\u00a0the spirit of 1956\u00a0through\u00a0100\u00a0video\u00a0interviews with\u00a0Hungarian-Americans who were witnesses and participants in the 1956\u00a0events.  In her remarks after dinner, Mrs. Lauer Rice presented\u00a0the major achievements of the Coalition\u00a0in 2016,\u00a0highlighting\u00a0the organization\u2019s 25th\u00a0anniversary and the commemorations of the 60th\u00a0anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956\u00a0last year\u00a0which involved\u00a0Hungarian-American communities\u00a0across the United States. She emphasized the importance\u00a0of\u00a0the Coalition\u2019s\u00a0ongoing\u00a0educational\u00a0programs, with a special focus on its flagship project, the Coalition Internship Program,\u00a0and\u00a0mentioned some of\u00a0the\u00a0remarkable\u00a0alumni. Mrs. Lauer Rice said: \"Thank you to each and every one of you for your support for these oftentimes life-changing programs. A very special thank you to the Hungary Initiatives Foundation for\u00a0their continued support in making the Coalition Internship Program such a success.\"  After Mrs. Lauer Rice\u2019s remarks, Mrs. Edith K. Lauer\u00a0introduced Ambassador April H.
