They have a rich local history and a vibrant community with many churches and social organizations, the university said.<\/p>\n<p>After receiving pledges from the Cleveland Hungarian Heritage Society, the Cleveland Hungarian Development Panel, the Hungarian Association, the American Hungarian Friends of Scouting, the Hungarian Cultural Center of Northeastern Ohio, the Cleveland Hungarian School, the William Penn Association, the Hungarian Community of Friends and a private donor, CSU invited a Fulbright lecturer from Hungary to begin in the fall of 2014.<\/p>\n<p><b>Long-time employee at Kent State to retire:\u00a0<\/b>Linda Harsh,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.edu\/\">Kent State University\u2019s\u00a0<\/a>longest serving staff member, will retire this month after working 47 years at its Stark campus.<\/p>\n<p>Harsh began her career while she was still in high school, working part-time in the registrar\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was hired making 60 cents an hour to file and assemble admission packets,\u201d she said in a KSU release. \u201cWhen I graduated high school in 1966, I was hired for a full-time position in the admission\u2019s office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harsh moved back and forth between admissions and student services, working for the last 25 years in admissions, mainly processing applications, waiting on students in the office and answering questions.<\/p>\n<p>Harsh reflected on the changes to the campus and her job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a campus, our enrollment has increased by a great amount,\u201d she said. &#8220;I remember when I used to register students with a piece of paper and a pen, but now, students do everything electronically.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her last day is December 23, but the university is celebrating her retirement today.<\/p>\n<p><b>College textbook cost addressed in legislation:\u00a0<\/b>Legislation has been introduced in Congress to make college textbooks free.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.durbin.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/pressreleases?ID=26d6b011-b4b3-4fa1-9fea-8b2706026943\">Senators Dick Durbin,<\/a>\u00a0an Illinois Democrat and Al Franken, a Minnesota Democrat recently introduced the Affordable College Textbook\u00a0Act. Long-time employee at Kent State to retire:\u00a0Linda Harsh,\u00a0Kent State University\u2019s\u00a0longest serving staff member, will retire this month after working 47 years at its Stark campus.  Harsh began her career while she was still in high school, working part-time in the registrar\u2019s office.  \u201cI was hired making 60 cents an hour to file and assemble admission packets,\u201d she said in a KSU release. \u201cWhen I graduated high school in 1966, I was hired for a full-time position in the admission\u2019s office.\u201d  Harsh moved back and forth between admissions and student services, working for the last 25 years in admissions, mainly processing applications, waiting on students in the office and answering questions.  Harsh reflected on the changes to the campus and her job.  \u201cAs a campus, our enrollment has increased by a great amount,\u201d she said. \"I remember when I used to register students with a piece of paper and a pen, but now, students do everything electronically.\u201d  Her last day is December 23, but the university is celebrating her retirement today.  College textbook cost addressed in legislation:\u00a0Legislation has been introduced in Congress to make college textbooks free.  Senators Dick Durbin,\u00a0an Illinois Democrat and Al Franken, a Minnesota Democrat recently introduced the Affordable College Textbook\u00a0Act. It would create a competitive grant program for colleges to expand the use of free online textbooks.  Textbook costs can be substantial.
